Military
From imposing sovereignty in remote border
regions to amphibious beach assaults and drug
interdiction, hovercraft are capable of operating
in areas that are difficult or impossible for
conventional military and paramilitary equipment
to access.

and have been proven in action from Vietnam to
Operation Desert Storm.
Mining
Hovercraft can operate effectively in hazardous
conditions such as over thin ice or the deep mud
and shallow water of a Tailings

Scientific
& Environmental
Hovercraft leave no footprint in sensitive
environments and will harmlessly pass over
terrain
that tracked or wheeled vehicles would
destroy. Hovercraft do not disturb the surface
of the water or direct engine exhaust fumes
underwater like many boats. This allows the
collection of undisturbed
water samples
regardless of water depth. Hovercraft
are often
the only machines able to support field operations
where the ground is waterlogged.
Diving
Hovercraft are stable Diving or Remote Operated
Underwater Vehicle
platforms and the low
freeboard permits easy access to the water
for
people and equipment. An additional advantage in
undeveloped areas
is the ability of the hovercraft to
operate without shore infrastructure
such as
docks.
Film &
Television
Hovercraft are particularly useful for the
transportation of personnel
in challenging
environments and can act as a stationary or
dynamic film platform. Hovercraft can be used
to access unique locations that would otherwise
be inaccessible
and they also double as a wind
generator.
Survey &
Drilling
Our Hovertechnics HoverProbe 2000 is the
first craft constructed that combines the versatility
of a hovercraft
with the utility of a drill rig. The
HoverProbe is in operation with the US
Geological Survey and is a revolutionary new
way of accessing challenging
drilling locations.
The hovercraft incorporates a Meta-Probe
vibracore drill, manufactured by MPI Drilling Inc.
Hydraulically
operated cams are used to generate
high frequency vibrations at the cutting edge of a
hollow drill string. A hole can be cut or a
monitoring well installed rapidly, with almost
no cuttings resulting at the surface. No fluids are
used or injected into the ground. The drill can
be used to retrieve continuous core up to a depth
of about 100'
from saturated, unconsolidated
materials and drilling can proceed
while the
craft is on mud, solid
ground, or floating on the
water.
